How it connects

A small helper on your Mac. Your phone in charge.

The gentz Mac helper installs gentz-bridge, which runs Claude Code on your own Claude account and hands every approval to your phone. Nothing goes through our servers.

Runs on your Mac

Claude Code works in your folders with your tools, exactly as it does at your desk.

You approve

File changes and commands wait for allow once, allow for session or deny on your phone.

Private by design

A key only your Mac and phone know. The phone sees only the tasks it started.

Home or away

Same Wi-Fi at home, and Tailscale when you’re out. gentz picks the route for you.

Setup

Connect in a few minutes.

You’ll need the gentz app on your iPhone, Claude Code on your Mac, and both on the same Wi-Fi (or Tailscale).

  1. 01

    Get Claude Code ready

gentz uses the Claude Code on your Mac: the copy inside the Claude desktop app, or a standalone install. It runs on your own Claude account, so sign in once:

    Terminal
    claude auth login

Using the copy inside the Claude app and there’s no claude command? Carry on: the helper finds it and tells you if a sign-in is still needed.

  2. 02

    Download the gentz Mac helper

The helper is signed by Orion Technology Enterprises and notarized by Apple. Unzip it (double-click the file) to get a gentz-mac-helper folder in Downloads.

Prefer Terminal? This downloads, unzips and starts the setup in one go:

    Terminal
    cd ~/Downloads && curl -fLO https://oriontechenterprises.com/downloads/gentz-claude-code-helper-macos.zip
    ditto -x -k gentz-claude-code-helper-macos.zip . && cd gentz-mac-helper && ./pair.sh

  3. 03

    Run the helper

    Open Terminal and run:

    Terminal
    cd ~/Downloads/gentz-mac-helper
    ./pair.sh

Or double-click Connect iPhone to gentz.command in the folder. The first time, macOS may ask: right-click it and choose Open.

  4. 04

    Say yes to Claude Code

When the helper asks Connect Claude Code too? [Y/n], press Return. It installs gentz-bridge to ~/Library/Application Support/gentz/, starts it at login on port 8790 and creates a private key only you can read.

The helper also offers optional extras it finds on your Mac (Hermes, AlphaWeb, gentzo). Answer as you like: Claude Code works without them.

  5. 05

Scan the code with your iPhone

The helper shows a QR code. Point your iPhone’s Camera at it and tap Open in gentz: everything fills in by itself. Can’t scan? Run it with --copy and tap Paste in gentz.

    Terminal
    ./pair.sh --copy

  6. 06

Start a task from your phone

In gentz, open the agents menu and choose Claude Code. Every file change or command Claude Code isn’t already allowed to make comes to your phone as allow once, allow for session or deny.

gentz-bridge commands

Run these in Terminal on your Mac. gentz-bridge lives in ~/Library/Application Support/gentz/.

gentz-bridge installStart now and at every login. Run it again to restart after a settings change.
gentz-bridge uninstallStop it and remove the login item.
gentz-bridge setupCreate the settings if they’re missing and print the port and key.
gentz-bridge serveRun in the foreground, to watch what it’s doing.
Example
~/Library/Application\ Support/gentz/gentz-bridge install

Choose the project folder

New tasks start in your most recent project, or in ~/Library/Application Support/gentz/workspace. To pick a folder, add a project line to the settings file:

Open the settings
open -e ~/Library/Application\ Support/gentz/bridge.json
bridge.json
"project": "/Users/you/Projects/web-app"

Save the file, then restart gentz-bridge:

Terminal
~/Library/Application\ Support/gentz/gentz-bridge install

Check the download

To confirm the file wasn’t altered, compare its fingerprint with ours:

Terminal
shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/gentz-claude-code-helper-macos.zip

SHA-256: d3714d2648935353c73cedd695a5cec7bd79a077c83d804d6a34ff1836613694

Troubleshooting

If something’s not working.

The helper says Claude Code needs a sign-in

Claude Code needs its own sign-in once. Run this, then run the helper again:

Terminal
claude auth login
The helper skips Claude Code

It couldn’t find Claude Code. Install it (or the Claude desktop app) and run the helper again. If it’s somewhere unusual, point the helper at it:

Terminal
GENTZ_CLAUDE_PATH=/path/to/claude ./pair.sh
gentz shows Claude Code as offline

Check gentz-bridge is running. This should answer straight away:

Terminal
curl http://127.0.0.1:8790/health

No answer? Start it again:

Terminal
~/Library/Application\ Support/gentz/gentz-bridge install

Also check your iPhone is on the same Wi-Fi as your Mac, or that Tailscale is on for both.

macOS won’t open “Connect iPhone to gentz.command”

Right-click it and choose Open, or skip it and run the helper from Terminal. gentz-bridge itself is signed and notarized, so macOS opens it without warnings.

Terminal
cd ~/Downloads/gentz-mac-helper
./pair.sh
I got a new phone, or my Mac’s address changed

Run the helper again and scan the new code. It’s safe to run any time.

How do I remove it?

Stop gentz-bridge and remove its login item, then delete its folder:

Terminal
~/Library/Application\ Support/gentz/gentz-bridge uninstall
rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/gentz
